Baby’s got Blue eyeshadow – 80s style

2010 April 1

Keeley Hawes as DI Alex Drake, from BBC1 drama, Ashes to Ashes,

If you’re a fan of the 80s like we are here at BB HQ then you’ll be tuning in tomorrow night on BBC1 at 9pm for the final series of time-travelling cop show, Ashes to Ashes.

Keeley Hawes as DI Alex Drake has single-handedly revived our love affair with blue eyeshadow – a very 80s colour…or is it?!

Blue was the colour of the original eyeshadow when the product first appeared back in the 1950s from Helena Rubenstein.

The new ‘teens’ of the day lapped it up and we bet some of our more colourful bombshells, like Jayne Mansfield and Diana Dors had a pot or two at home as well.

We’re going to look at blue eyeshadow in more depth soon, but for now, why not have a play with the truly fabulous blue shadow we’ve just added to our kit; Famous By Sue Moxley Dazzle Dust in Brilliant Blue, pictured right, (£4, www.superdrug.com), or Estee Lauder’s Limited Collection Pure Color Metallic Eye Shadow in Midnight Metallic (£14.50, www.esteelauder.co.uk)
